There are rituals that you accept as part of life, such as the Monday to Friday work week, New Year’s Eve, etc. Then, there are “deliberate” rituals that you create. As a word, “deliberate” is better than “decisive” (too stern) or “conscious” (too new age). More to come…

    “Volitional” can be an interesting take on “deliberate”. Less of a new-age connotation (like “conscious”) and not as stern as “decisive”.
    “Deliberate” always carries a connotation of “resolute plodding” for me.

    Then again, does “ritual” even need an adjective to keep it company? :-)
