Here is an interesting model to populate and/or finance the City of the Future project:
Keith Powers passed these links along, and I agree. Thank you!
There has also been some discussion about archiving ideas and knowledge that could be called upon in the development and construction of new cities in the Gulf and China. Using this approach, many cities could be constructed with the underlying ideas differently to match cultural and geographical needs. Interesting.
Is there a similar Blog or Forum for real estate, or community developments?
TechCrunch was obviously built to fill a void left by the burst ‘tech bubble’, where the real need for technology startups still persists. An equivalent need will arise for the coming slump(or crash)in the housing market, not just a forum for capital marketing.
That’s something that SHOULD be ‘out there’ (online), for VC, families & people looking to put down roots, invest in property, or just find a nice place to live.
Financing ventures is a good thing, but not the only important part of housing/real estate.
Focus for such a Blog/Forum/Bulletin Board would not just be to raise capital, but to focus on the mechanics of city developement.
…Going to be doing a little research this weekend. If nothing user-friendly, or national/global in scope is out there,I’ll put together business proposal to launch such a service.
There are several good Blog sites for real estate & community developement out there.
The best seems to be the Wall Street Journal site, wich reads like a combination of electronic village & editorials page.
Check it out at:
http://blogs.wsj.com/developments/
Yes, it does have a NYNY slant, but also has some good coverage of developements all over the United States & the world.
There is also a site focused on just the financial aspects of project development:
http://www.housingfinance.com/blog/
This has a nice ‘sustainable’ focus too.
HOWEVER:
Like most other primary functions of life, the most important part of housing is NOT financing, so there is room out there for a Blog/BBS forum with more global appeal.
Perhaps something more along the lines of TheFunded.com …
